Can books transform lives? Absolutely. Learning to read and write books certainly transformed my life from purposeless to empowered; now I want to spread that strength.
Several of my warehouse's coworkers are ex-convicts who are trying to better their lives after serving time behind bars for their past mistakes. Many of them have told me how important books have been in helping them learn how to reform their lives and themselves into something better. Recently, one of my coworkers bought a copy of Skinshifter for his girlfriend, who is still in prison. She thanked me, telling me how much my book encouraged her and inspired her to fix a few things in her life. She is just the latest in a long string of readers to tell me this, and that sparked this crazy idea:
What if I could get paperback copies of my book Skinshifter to prisoners and other disadvantaged readers? And what if I could do it in the form of a 100-day challenge?
So here it is! My 100 For 100 Literacy Challenge:
Until next time, may we all rewrite our world for the better!
P.S.-I'll be back next week with an update on how many books we've donated. In the meantime, please get me those book giveaway recommendations! THANK YOU!
