I finished implementing the last of my proofreader’s edits for Skinshifter on Friday. I then spent most of the weekend writing and tweaking my first agent query letter. I finished double-checking the final draft last night and will send it off as soon as I post this blog. My goals for the rest of the afternoon include posting my latest photos from the Alpine Artwalk trip to my photography website, finishing a “Flashes of Perspective” blog entry, and continuing to refine Skinshifter’s appendices. At this point, the appendices are 90 percent complete, but they need tighter organization and fuller definitions to achieve the title of “finished.”
December’s to do list includes: polishing the appendices, continuing the rough draft of Dreamdrifter, and resubmitting two short stories for publication. I would like to get another 10,000 words on the book written before the Christmas and New Year’s holidays hit, but that will depend on the flexibility of my day job’s workload. Right now, my shooting schedule is fairly light, but that could change with the next phone call. If all goes well, I will have the rough draft of Dreamdrifter finalized by April’s end and complete the first round of rewrites before summer’s end. By then, I hope to have an amazing agent and be well on my way to a good book contract so that you all can finally read the first part of Katja Escari’s story!
Until we meet again, may your ink blots be liberal and your tea stains tiny.
